OUR HISTORY: SCI Engineering, Inc. was originally established as Soils Consultants, Inc. in 1978. After adding several new disciplines throughout the 1980s and 1990s, the company name was changed in 1999 to SCI Engineering, Inc. to better reflect the diverse services provided. Since its founding, SCI has grown steadily to become a multi-discipline,award-winning firm now with more than 150 employees in six office locations.

Expertise
The Construction Services Group at SCI supplements services offered by our other service groups by observing construction procedures to determine if project specifications have been met. SCI is the largest local provider of construction materials testing services in the St. Louis area and is one of the most diversified in the region. In addition, SCI has four laboratories in Missouri and Illinois
Certifications
The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) has accredited our laboratory. We participate in sample proficiency programs conducted by the Concrete and Cement Reference Laboratory (CCRL) and the AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL). Representatives of both CCRL and AMRL regularly inspect us on-site. The Department of the Army has inspected us and granted a validation to perform material tests for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In addition, SCI has on staff several Special Inspectors certified by the International Code Council (ICC)

Concrete Field, Aggregate Technician, Bituminous Concrete Technician, Soil Density, Concrete Strength, Aggregate Specific Gravity, Plasticity Index, Nuclear Testing Equipment, Hazardous Waste, Ultrasonic, Portland Cement, HMA Aggregate, Hot Mix Asphalt. ICC Certified Special Inspectors: Structural Steel Welding, Structural Masonry, Reinforced Concrete, Post-Tensioned Concrete, and Fireproofing
Experience
For more than 39 years, SCI has had the privilege of working with a diverse set of private, commercial, municipal, state and federal clientele and has contributed to a variety of projects in the St. Louis metropolitan area as well as throughout Missouri and Illinois. Local, prominent building projects include: Casino Queen, Residence Inn – Downtown, Harrah’s Hotel, St. Charles Convention Center and Embassy Suites Hotel, MLK Plaza, and Conoco Phillips
Capacity
Our professional team of more than 150 employees companywide has served clients throughout the Midwest from four offices located in Missouri and Illinois. Our Missouri offices are located in St. Charles, Union, and Rolla and our Illinois office is located in O’Fallon. Companywide, currently more than 70 engineering technicians and nine professional staff comprise the Construction Services group. And, our laboratories staff six full-time and five part-time engineering technicians

Licenses
On average, SCI staffs nearly 20 Professional Engineers, all of which are licensed in the States of Missouri and Illinois. Professional Engineer licenses are also held by staff in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, and Texas. SCI also staffs a number of Missouri Registered Geologists and Illinois Professional Geologists. SCI is licensed as a Professional Engineering Corporation in Missouri and a Professional Design Firm/Professional Engineering Corporation in Illinois. SCI is also currently licensed by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers to offer and perform engineering services in the state of Texas
